A unique hand carved display bowl made from a one of a kind piece of horse chestnut burl wood, hand sanded to a glassy finished and polished to a high lustre. Burl wood is a growth often seen on the lower parts of the trunks of old trees, wherein buds and other features of the tree's normal growth have become trapped, leading to swirling, dazzling grain that twists and seeths around itself. The wood is very challenging to carve but the effect once finished is hard to top. Endless interest in the figure, and when you move the piece in your hands the grain seems to shimmer and flow.
