Willow Mushroom Pots with Elm Lid (short)
£30.00
A family of white willow shrink pots cored and carved by hand with scottish elm lids and decorated with gouged texture on the outside. The lids lock with a twist. Three of the taller family members are available and one wee one.
Shrink pots are made with freshly cut wet wood. A branch piece is shaped into a cylinder and cored with an auger, before a groove is cut in the inside bottom and a dry wood base is snapped into the groove. As the piece dries, the body of the pot contracts around the base, locking it in place. One of the few types of greenwood craft that cannot be replicated with dry wood bought from a lumber yard.
